Congratulations to Doug MacIlroy, AKA “Ironwoodwind“! He was the drawing winner this week for the “So Cliche” poetry prompt from Reason 2 Rhyme. Not only is Doug an active member of the writing community and all-around great guy, his words (both prose and poetry) have a habit of lifting up his readers and making them see the beauty around us. His poem below answered the challenge to “choose a clichéd phrase and turn it around.”
Gandhi, Kennedy, King
In search of a higher, better way
Had their minds stilled
By men who had none
And knew little
Peace
Thanks to all the participants this week, and here’s a sneak peek at Monday’s prompt…
Select one particular day in history (the world’s or your personal experience) and write a poem contrasting the same day in the present.
The prompt page will be live on Monday, July 2, with a place to post your poem in the comment section, or link directly to your page. Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with next!

Dear Karen,
Woke to find a link to this page in my mail box. Imagine my surprise.
I sense rapid growth ahead for Reason2Rhyme and am grateful to you for helping writers to expand their horizons by providing an ingenious incentive for their imaginations.
Thank you for such a wonderful beginning to my day. (I have already begun contemplating the calendar for Monday’s prompt.)
Aloha,
Doug
You had a lovely poem, Doug, and I was so please your number came up for the feature!
I hope we get many more participants who want to try out their words with some friendly readers. Thanks for all your support!
Working on my poem right now and excited I found Reason2Rhyme.
