Head shot small sizeKaren Nelson lives in southwest Missouri, where she homeschools her children in the rural Ozark Mountains.  An honors graduate of Missouri State University, her triple-certification in education allows her to teach a variety of age groups, in subjects ranging from literacy and creativity, to technical skills in the fiber arts.  Karen is currently working on her MFA in creative nonfiction through the University of Arkansas.

The list of published works and editorial projects are numerous, but some of the highlights have been writing a regular column for The Ozarks Mountaineer Magazine, serving as Technical Editor for Flash Fiction Chronicles Magazine, and being on the inaugural team that began Gravel: A Literary Magazine.  Karen has published four nonfiction titles, three with Goldminds Publishing, and enjoys teaching workshops and classes in multiple fields of interest.
